Holiday Spirit Lights Up Downtown Coachella as Annual Parade Kicks Off

Downtown Coachella shimmered with excitement this evening as the city’s annual holiday parade officially got underway at 6 p.m. Crowds lined 6th Street, families bundled up in festive attire as they waited for the parade floats to begin rolling through the heart of the city. Children sat perched on curbs while parents snapped photos, capturing the beginning of a night filled with lights, music, and celebration.

Reporting live from the scene, Brett Rosen spoke with one of the evening’s parade judges, Eva, who is experiencing her first year in the role. Despite her newness on the judging panel, Eva expressed genuine enthusiasm about what the night would bring — especially when it came to the children participating.

“I’m excited to take a look at the floats, especially the little kids,” Eva shared. “All the practice they’ve put in, all the fun they have — being able to see them enjoying themselves out here is what makes it so special.”

When asked about the criteria for judging, Eva explained that each judge brings their own perspective. “We all have our different criteria,” she noted. “I don’t think we’ve sat down and talked about it as a group, so everyone is going to judge based on what they feel is important. For me, it’s all about enthusiasm and the joy you can see from the children.”

Eva, who also works with another city’s planning commission, said she’s attended Coachella’s parades in past years. But this year stands out. “We have more floats, more people participating, and even more visitors coming in from outside of Coachella,” she said. “It’s truly a family event, and the community here really embraces it.”

As the music grew louder and the lights of the first floats approached, anticipation rippled through the crowd. With more participation than ever and judges ready to celebrate the spirit of creativity and joy, tonight’s parade promised to be a memorable chapter in Coachella’s festive tradition.
