Kamala Harris extends 2026 book tour into key political states
Kamala Harris is extending her book tour into 2026, shifting it beyond traditional promotional stops and into key political territory. The former vice president and 2024 Democratic presidential nominee announced a new slate of appearances beginning in January and continuing weekly through April.
Harris, who launched the tour in September, initially focused on deep-blue cities. The new schedule includes events in Mississippi and Alabama, as well as visits to Detroit and Madison, Wisconsin — politically important areas for Democrats as they look ahead to the midterms and future presidential contests.
She is also weighing what role she will play on the 2026 campaign trail. Harris made only a single stop during the 2025 races, briefly appearing at a Tennessee event in support of the Democratic candidate in a House special election, though she did not mention the candidate by name during her remarks.
After opting not to run for California governor in 2026, Harris is reportedly considering whether another presidential run is possible. Winning back states like Michigan and Wisconsin would be central to any future national campaign for Democrats following President Donald Trump’s 2024 victory.
Her memoir, which reflects on her presidential campaign and the second Trump administration, has spent 10 weeks on bestseller lists. While the early tour focused on revisiting campaign moments, the spring phase is expected to emphasize forward-looking conversations with voters.
Her spokeswoman, Kirsten Allen, said Harris wants to keep listening to people’s concerns and share what she has learned, with a focus on where leadership must evolve and how the country can move beyond the current political climate.
Harris is also scheduled to speak Friday at a meeting of Democratic National Committee members in Los Angeles.
