Nvidia Unveils New AI Chip Systems Ahead of Schedule at CES

Nvidia announced its next generation of AI server systems at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas Monday, breaking from its usual reveal schedule.

CEO Jensen Huang introduced the new systems, called "Vera Rubin," which are expected to go on sale in the second half of 2025. The company typically saves its major chip announcements for its spring developer conference, but Huang said Nvidia moved up the timeline this year.

The reason: explosive demand. Companies racing to train and run AI models need increasingly powerful processors, and the computing complexity involved has grown substantially. Nvidia, which dominates the market for AI chips, is pushing to keep pace with that appetite.

The early reveal signals just how fast the AI hardware race is moving—and how eager Nvidia is to stay ahead of it.
