Plein Air Festival Brings Artists to Palm Desert Streets Starting Today
The California Desert Plein Air Festival kicks off today in Palm Desert, bringing artists from across the country to paint outdoors throughout the city over the next several weeks.
The festival runs through February 1, with painters setting up easels around town to capture the desert landscape. If you spot someone working on a canvas in a scenic spot, that's likely why.
Starting January 16, the finished artwork goes on public display at the Artists Center at the Galen. The exhibition runs through the end of the festival and is free to attend, along with artist demonstrations throughout that period.
The Artists Center is also hosting free workshops during the festival for those interested in learning more about plein air painting techniques.
More information, including details on ticketed events like the Awards Reception, is available at californiadesertpleinair.com.
