Christina Gordon Appointed to Fill Vacant Cathedral City Council Seat

Cathedral City Council has appointed Christina Gordon to represent District 3, filling the seat left vacant after the death of longtime Councilmember Mark Carnevale last year.

Gordon was selected from a pool of 11 applicants. City leaders said they were looking for someone who understood the community, its needs, and its future.

Gordon is no stranger to Cathedral City. She has served for years on the board of the Cathedral City Boys and Girls Club—the same organization Carnevale was involved with.

"It's really important to recognize that District 3 has its own set of residents, but we are one Cathedral City," Gordon said after her appointment. "It's really important for us as council members to represent our constituents but also look at the city as a whole."

Gordon said hiring a new city manager is among her top priorities, along with finding ways to increase community engagement across the district.

Thursday marked her second day in office.
