HARC Invites Young Artists to Turn Coachella Valley Health Data Into Art

The Health Assessment and Research for Communities nonprofit, known as Health Assessment and Research for Communities (HARC), is inviting young artists across the Coachella Valley to help transform local health data into meaningful artwork.

HARC is recruiting artists ages 14 through 25 to create visual pieces inspired by findings from its Community Health Survey, which is conducted every three years. The survey gathers data from approximately 2,500 households and covers topics such as access to health care, mental health, chronic disease, disability, and overall wellness throughout the Valley.

The goal of the project is to turn statistics into storytelling by using art to spark awareness and conversation about how health trends affect everyday life in the Coachella Valley. Artists are encouraged to connect the data to personal experiences, whether that means illustrating life with diabetes, navigating disability, coping with mental health challenges, or supporting a loved one through illness.

Selected artwork will be showcased at HARC’s community event on February 26, where the pieces will highlight how public health issues intersect with real people and real stories in the region.

HARC leaders say the project is designed to empower young voices while making complex health information more accessible and relatable for the broader community.

Artists interested in participating can find application instructions on HARC’s Instagram page, @HARCData. Additional information and links are also available in the newsroom section of NBCPalmSprings.com.
