A Moderate Earthquake Detected near Morongo Valley on Thursday evening, January 15, 2026!

A 3.4 magnitude quake at a depth of 4.8-miles was detected at 7:28p this evening -- 14-miles WSW of Morongo Valley near State Route 62 in San Bernardino County (34.032 N/-116.657 W) or 35-miles NW of Indio -- in Southern California.

This occurred after a mini-swarm of shakers -- which includes a 4.1 and 3.5 magnitude quake -- were detected South of the Salton Sea near the Imperial County city of Holtville early this morning.

Morongo Valley and Holtville are not directly on the main San Andreas Fault line but they are very much within its broader tectonic system.
