Avenue 50 Closure Planned in Indio for Sandstorm Lacrosse Festival

Drivers traveling through Indio this weekend are being advised to plan alternate routes due to a temporary road closure.

City officials say Avenue 50 will be closed between Madison Street and Monroe Street beginning Friday morning. The closure will remain in place through Sunday evening, reopening at 6 p.m.

The closure is being implemented to help facilitate the Sandstorm Lacrosse Festival, which is taking place at the Empire Polo Grounds.

The tournament is expected to draw significant traffic to the area, hosting more than 550 grade school lacrosse teams from across North America.

Officials are urging motorists to use alternate routes if they need to travel through the area during the closure window.
