Fake Amazon Delivery Workers Accused of Violent Home Invasion in Connecticut

Police in Stamford, Connecticut say two men posing as Amazon delivery workers carried out a violent home invasion that ended with their arrest after their getaway car was stopped by road construction.

According to police, the incident happened just before noon Monday at a million-dollar home. Investigators say a man wearing an Amazon-style vest knocked on the door claiming he had a package that required a signature. When the homeowner opened the door, the suspect allegedly forced his way inside at gunpoint.

The homeowner’s wife was told to call 911 and lock herself in the bedroom. Police say a second suspect, also wearing an Amazon-style vest, ran toward her, grabbed her by the neck, threw her onto the bed, and placed a pillow over her head. During the attack, the homeowner was able to activate the home’s panic alarm, prompting the suspects to flee.

As officers responded, a nearby restaurant owner reported seeing a suspicious man acting nervously and yelling on the phone before leaving in a white car. The witness provided police with a vehicle description and license plate information.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle, but it initially fled. The car was eventually stopped after being caught in a traffic detour caused by road construction.

Officers arrested 24-year-old Hayes Edmonds and 25-year-old Sam Oduor, both from Georgia. Police say the victims identified the men as the suspects, and two firearms were found inside the vehicle.

Both men face multiple charges including home invasion, assault, firearms offenses, motor vehicle violations, and interfering with a 911 call. They are each being held on two million dollars bond. The victims were treated at a local hospital for minor injuries.

Amazon officials reminded customers that deliveries requiring a signature are typically pre-arranged and advised residents not to open the door if they are not expecting a package.
