Dish Detective Reveals This Week’s Mystery Restaurant in Cathedral City

It’s time to reveal the answer to this week’s Dish Detective, the Instagram food contest hosted by NBC Palm Springs in partnership with Dining with the Davids.

Each week, the team shares mouthwatering clues from a local restaurant, challenging viewers to guess where the dishes are from. Anyone who submits the correct answer is entered into a drawing to win a gift card to that featured spot. The deadline to guess this week’s mystery diner closed at noon yesterday.

The clues included a trio of gorditas served hot and fresh, featuring pork simmered in salsa verde, sautéed nopal, and grilled red chicharrón. The plate was described as feeling right at home under a New Mexico sky.

Next came a fully loaded torta, stacked with lomo, jamón, and queso fundido, layered with jalapeño, lettuce, onion, tomato, and crema. Finished “al gata” style with the house sauce and topped with avocado, it was described as messy, hearty, and worth every napkin.

The final clue spotlighted a bold seafood mix of shrimp, octopus, tuna, and callo de hacha, tossed with onion and cucumber, finished with a house sauce and a touch of chiltepin for just the right amount of heat.

If those dishes sounded familiar, you guessed right. This week’s Dish Detective restaurant is Santa Fe in Cathedral City.

Congratulations to all the food lovers who played along, and a special shout-out to this week’s winner, Sean Hesslin. Sean correctly guessed the restaurant and wins a gift card to Santa Fe.
