Hollywood Headlines: Jessie Buckley’s The Bride, Sophie Turner as Lara Croft, New Music from Harry Styles and Bruno Mars
Hollywood is rolling out a mix of dark romance, epic reboots, and major music news this week, giving fans plenty to look forward to.
A new trailer is out for The Bride, starring Jessie Buckley and Christian Bale. Buckley, best known for Hamnet, plays an undead bride who teams up with Bale’s monster in a story that blends romance and rebellion. The two spark both a love story and a violent uprising, going full Bonnie-and-Clyde in pursuit of social change. The film is written and directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal and is set to hit theaters on March 6.
Meanwhile, Sophie Turner is stepping into a legendary role. The Game of Thrones star has been revealed as the new Lara Croft in an upcoming series from Amazon MGM Studios. Production is already underway, and fans got their first look this week. Turner will also appear next in the Prime Video series Steel, premiering Wednesday.
In animation-turned-live-action news, Cate Blanchett is returning to the world of dragons. The Oscar-winning actress voiced Valka in the animated How to Train Your Dragon films and is now set to reprise the role in the live-action sequel, How to Train Your Dragon 2, scheduled for release in June of 2027.
Music fans also have plenty to celebrate. Harry Styles announced a brand-new album on Instagram. The record, titled Kiss All the Time, Disco Occasionally, features 12 new songs and will be released on March 6. It marks his first album since 2022’s Harry’s House, which earned three Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year.
Bruno Mars is also making headlines after selling 2.1 million tickets in a single day for his upcoming tour, setting a new Live Nation record across North America, Europe, and the UK. Demand was so high that Mars added 32 additional dates to his Romantic Tour, which kicks off April 10 in Las Vegas. His new album, Romantic, debuts next month and will be his first solo release in a decade.
Finally, Star Trek fans can now stream the new spinoff Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. The series focuses on a new generation of cadets and aims to stay true to the franchise’s spirit while exploring modern challenges. Manny the Movie Guy sat down with the cast and creators, who emphasized heart, inclusivity, and a deep love for the Star Trek universe.
