Warmer-Than-Average Weather Holds On in the Coachella Valley

Unseasonably warm weather will continue across the Coachella Valley, including Palm Springs, as high temperatures remain 10 to 15 degrees above average through Sunday. The prolonged warmth has brought a more summerlike feel to the region, especially during the afternoon hours.

Forecasters say conditions will begin to shift early next week, with a gradual cooling trend developing through the end of the week. While temperatures are expected to ease closer to normal, the change will be slow rather than sudden.

The marine layer is also forecast to rebuild during the first half of next week, increasing the chances for clouds and fog near the coast. Although inland desert areas typically see limited direct impact, the marine influence can contribute to slightly cooler and less intense heat locally.

By late next week, an approaching area of low pressure could bring a low chance of precipitation to Southern California. While rainfall is far from certain, the system may help reinforce the cooling trend across the Coachella Valley.
