Team USA Curler Corey Dropkin Heads to Milan-Cortina Olympics After Lifelong Journey on the Ice

With the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics just weeks away, the Olympic spotlight is turning to the athletes who will represent Team USA on the world stage. Among them is curler Corey Dropkin, whose journey to the Games has been shaped by years of dedication and family tradition.

For Dropkin, curling has never been just a pastime. A native of Southborough, Massachusetts, he first stepped onto the ice at just five years old, spending countless hours at the Broomstones Curling Club. With his parents running the club’s junior curling program and his older brother deeply involved in the sport, Dropkin followed closely in his footsteps, quickly developing a passion of his own.

That passion grew into an Olympic dream, inspired by watching Team USA win its first-ever curling medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino. Determined to pursue the sport at the highest level, Dropkin eventually moved from Massachusetts to Minnesota to train and compete alongside elite curlers.

His persistence paid off earlier this year when he won the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in mixed doubles, earning his spot in Cortina. Along the way, he captured a gold medal at the World Curling Championships and began preparing for what he calls the defining moment of his career.

In recent months, Dropkin has been soaking in the experience, from attending a USA summit in New York City to appearing on the set of Today. He also shared the moment with his brother, his longtime role model in the sport, making the journey even more meaningful.

After coming close in previous Olympic cycles, Dropkin says finally achieving his goal of becoming an Olympian means everything. In just a few short weeks, he’ll step onto the ice in Italy with USA on his back, turning a lifelong dream into reality.
