Know Before You Go: Major Road Projects Impacting Palm Desert and Indio This Week
Drivers across the Coachella Valley are being advised to plan ahead as several major road projects continue this week in Palm Desert and Indio.
In Palm Desert, the Gerald Ford Improvement Project remains underway. Construction stretches from Cook Street to Paseo del Corazon, where crews are repaving the roadway and installing a new median in preparation for a future fire station. The road is nearly fully closed, with only a single westbound lane open to traffic. Officials recommend using Frank Sinatra Drive as an alternate route. The project is expected to continue through May.
In Indio, road work is also causing disruptions along Monroe Street between Avenue 42 and Avenue 44. Crews are repaving the roadway, and drivers are encouraged to use Jackson Street, Madison Street, or Jefferson Street as alternate routes. While no firm completion date has been announced, the work is expected to last several weeks.
Motorists are urged to allow extra travel time, follow posted detours, and remain alert for changing traffic patterns near construction zones.
