California Winter League Returns to Palm Springs Stadium for 17th Seaso

The California Winter League kicks off its 17th season today at Palm Springs Stadium, with eight teams competing through a February 15th championship game.

The league has become a pipeline to professional baseball. Last season, more than a third of players earned professional contracts, with over 40 joining MLB Partner League teams. Past CWL players include World Series winner Tyler Matzek and former Palm Springs Power standout Luke Barker, now with the Milwaukee Brewers.

This year's teams are split into two divisions. The Canadian Division features the Canada A's, Alberta Grizzly, British Columbia Bombers, and Manitoba North Stars. The American Division includes the Palm Springs Power, Palm Springs Chill, Oregon Lumberjacks, and Washington Blue Sox. Former Major League manager John McLaren returns to lead the coaching staff alongside 2025 Pioneer League championship-winning manager Aaron Miles.

Games run daily at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. General admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, and $5 for youth. A $16 "Power Ticket" includes a hot dog, chips, drink, and koozie. The box office opens at 9:30 a.m. on game days.
