Broadway Veteran Alix Korey Returns to the Stage in Rancho Mirage Cabaret Performance
This week on Desert Entertainment, Broadway star and Rancho Mirage resident Alix Korey joins the show to talk about her return to the stage with One More Ride on the Merry-Go-Round, a new cabaret performance debuting at CV Rep on Tuesday, June 24 at 7 p.m.
With eight Broadway credits and screen roles in six Disney animated films, Korey brings decades of experience and heart to this one-woman show—her first in 10 years. “It’s a return, a reconnection,” she said. “Teaching has been my focus lately, but this is a moment to take another spin on the merry-go-round.”
Korey, who teaches at Musical Theatre University and the CV Rep Conservatory, is working with acclaimed musical director Wayne Abravanel and director Randy Brenner. The performance is part of CV Rep’s Summer Cabaret Series.
Also coming up:
Thursday, June 19 at 7:30 p.m., the Revolution Stage Company presents Our Name is Barbara, a tribute to Barbra Streisand featuring an all-female cast under the direction of Francesca Amari. The show honors the late cabaret legend Clifford Bell and raises funds for the theater.
Friday, June 20 at 7 p.m., CV Rep continues its Summer Cabaret with Tony-nominated Sally Mayes, whose Broadway credits include She Loves Me and Steel Magnolias.
Juneteenth festivities begin Thursday at Village Fest in Palm Springs and continue through the weekend, including the Kings and Queens Parade at Desert Highland Unity Center and a Kool & the Gang tribute concert Friday night at Downtown Park.
Saturday, June 21 at 7 p.m., enjoy Yacht Rock at P.S. Underground—a summer celebration of food, wine, and smooth sounds from the Eagles, Michael McDonald, Steely Dan, and more.
Thanks to Alix Korey for joining the show. Catch her live at CV Rep—and we'll see you on the town.
