Jerry's Hashtag Trivia Hits the Road for National Food Truck and Corvette Celebrations
The NBC Palm Springs morning team officially geared up for the weekend on Friday, June 26, 2026, with a packed holiday calendar and a high-octane edition of Jerry's Hashtag Trivia. Sponsored by One Coachella Valley, the interactive morning segment highlighted local valley food traditions, pet-friendly workplace milestones, and classic pop-culture car history.
The anchors kicked off the morning by breaking down a festive lineup of national observances. First up was National Eat at a Food Truck Day, celebrated on the final Friday of June to honor hardworking mobile restaurateurs. The team gave a special shout-out to Indio’s beloved weekly Food Truck Fridays tradition, happening tonight at the corner of Town Street and Bliss Avenue from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM, featuring live music, activities, and an array of local eats.
The calendar also featured Take Your Dog to Work Day, a workplace favorite where the family pooch officially punches in for the day while the kittens stay safely at home. The anchor team lamented missing the memo this year but vowed to bring their pets to the studio for the 2027 celebration. To commemorate National Drive Your Corvette to Work Day—marking the anniversary of the very first Corvette rolling off the General Motors assembly line in 1953—Jerry put the newsroom's music and movie knowledge to the test with two specialized trivia questions.
For the first question regarding classic rock lore, Jerry asked about Jan and Dean's 1964 Billboard Top 10 hit single Dead Man's Curve, which tells the story of a drag race between a Corvette Stingray and a Jaguar XKE. Jerry challenged the desk to name the famous intersection where the race begins. The team successfully guessed Sunset and Vine, a legendary Los Angeles starting point that set the stage for the dramatic teen street-race anthem.
The second question focused on cinematic spies. In the 1999 spy comedy hit Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, CIA secret agent Felicity Shagwell, played by actress Heather Graham, drives a 1966 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. Jerry asked what distinct design is painted on her car. While Austin Powers famously navigated the sixties in a Union Jack-emblazoned Shaguar, his American counterpart's Corvette proudly sported the Stars and Stripes. A troubling history is coming to light in a Palm Desert husband’s death. 65-year old Vicky Kim is accused in the death of her husband — but prosecutors say she had previously faced several domestic violence cases involving him. The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office says it had secured protective orders against Kim before a judge later resolved her cases as misdemeanors, released her from custody and terminated those orders. Now, Kim is expected to be arraigned in connection with her husband’s death. Court records allege the weapon used was a flagpole.
