Conoce la nueva tarjeta para niños de la Biblioteca Pública de San Diego
La Biblioteca Pública de San Diego cuenta con un nuevo programa que ofrecerá una tarjeta bibliotecaria a sus patrocinadores más jóvenes.
Se trata del lanzamiento de un nuevo programa que apoyará el desarrollo literario desde una temprana edad, buscando que se cultive un gusto por la lectura que dure toda la vida.
A partir de hoy, 18 de enero, niños menores de cinco años pueden aplicar para obtener: My First Library Card, una tarjeta diseñada especialmente para ellos.
“Sabemos que leer a temprana edad fomenta un mejor futuro literario, el programa de My First Library Card surge de la noción de que introducir a los niños a la lectura en una edad temprana, les deja el camino listo para ser ávidos lectores de por vida”, comentó Misty Jones, directora de la biblioteca.
La tarjeta My First Library Card incluirá una imagen de Odi el Coyote, la mascota de la biblioteca, leyendo frente a un montón de libros.
Para obtener esta tarjeta, los pequeños y sus padres o tutores deberán visitar cualquiera de las locaciones de la Biblioteca Pública de San Diego.
Una vez que se encuentren inscritos en el programa, los niños recibirán su tarjeta bibliotecaria, junto con la oportunidad de tomarse la foto con el marco de Odi el Coyote, y hasta agotar existencias, también podrán obtener una copia del libro Odi’s Library Day, además de un peluche de Odi el Coyote.
Además ya que se encuentran en la biblioteca, los niños se pueden inscribir al programa 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten, en el que se alienta a padres y cuidadores a que lean a los pequeños mil libros antes de que entren a la escuela, los registros se pueden llevar en papel o en un sitio web, mientras que los niños podrán ir ganando premios conforme avancen.

Palm Springs firefighters responded Thursday to a report of a person struck by lightning in the Chino Canyon area. The person was transported to a hospital for medical treatment. Firefighters also responded to a palm tree fire in Chino Canyon that officials say was caused by an apparent lightning strike.
