Longtime Cathedral City community advocate Patsy is inviting residents to a fundraising lunch aimed at replenishing her scholarship fund for local students. The event takes place Thursday at Nick's Bistro inside Date Palm Country Club.

Palm Valley School in Rancho Mirage will close permanently at the end of June after a major charitable donation failed to materialize. School leaders say the loss of funding, combined with declining enrollment, left the institution with no viable path forward.

Viewers will have another opportunity to watch portions of NBC Palm Springs' documentary series "Restoring the Salton Sea" this weekend. The special broadcast will feature the first two installments of reporter Olivia Sandusky's ongoing series examining efforts to address challenges facing the Salton Sea.
