Jackie, the beloved Big Bear bald eagle, is showing signs of improvement while receiving treatment at the Ojai Raptor Center. Veterinarians continue testing to determine the cause of her anemia and kidney inflammation, but officials say she remains in critical condition.

The Palm Springs Historic Site Preservation Board has cleared the way for demolition of the Palm Springs Swim Center office building as part of a future renovation project. The board determined the 1975 structure does not qualify for additional historic protections.

Construction is beginning this week at the intersection of 30th Avenue and San Eljay Avenue in Cathedral City. The project will add pedestrian safety improvements, including new lighting, ADA upgrades and updated road markings.
