“The Diplomat”: Inside the Making of Netflix’s New Political Thriller

Netflix’s “The Diplomat” from showrunner Deborah Cahn (“Homeland,” “Fosse/Verdon”) is nail-biting intrigue at its finest.  Keri Russell is Kate Wyler, the new United States ambassador to the United Kingdom, who must learn to navigate international crises while trying to save her marriage with fellow career diplomat Hal Wyler (Rufus Sewell).

David Gyasi stars as Foreign Secretary Austin Dennison in Netflix’s “The Diplomat.”  He becomes the unexpected ally of our US ambassador to the UK Kate Wyler played by Keri Russell.

Ali Ahn and Ato Essandoh were in high spirits when I spoke to them virtually for Netflix’s “The Diplomat.”  In the series, Ali is Eidra Park, the CIA Station Chief, while Ato is Stuart Heyford, the Deputy chief of mission.
