Rancho Mirage To Appoint New City Council Member

The Rancho Mirage City Council will appoint a new member after a position was left vacant by a member who resigned. Meg Marker resigned in the middle of a meeting back in September. Marker owns multiple radio stations with her husband and was protesting a conflict-of-interest policy. The city council decided on Thursday to appoint a new member instead of holding a special election. The city's website has a vacancy application and says interviews for potential candidates will be held next Thursday. A special meeting to consider an appointment is set for next friday.
