Trump Named Time's Person of the Year, Biden Issues Historic Pardons as Inauguration Approaches
President-elect Trump is marking the final stretch before his second inauguration by celebrating his selection as Time Magazine’s Person of the Year for a second time. During a visit to the New York Stock Exchange, Trump expressed his satisfaction with the recognition, reflecting on a successful first term and promoting his policies for the upcoming administration. He also addressed Republicans, urging continued support in Congress as his return to the White House looms. At the same time, President Biden is making history in his final weeks in office with a significant act of clemency. The President pardoned 39 individuals and commuted nearly 1,500 sentences for non-violent offenders, marking the largest single-day clemency action in modern history. Biden emphasized the rehabilitation of the pardoned individuals and their good behavior during incarceration. On Capitol Hill, lawmakers are reviewing Trump’s cabinet picks, with key figures like Pete Hegseth, nominated for Defense Secretary, gaining support. Former FBI official Kash Patel, selected to replace Christopher Wray as FBI Director, is also working to rally support.
