Warm and Sunny Weather Ahead for Coachella Valley as New Year Approaches
The Coachella Valley is experiencing above-normal temperatures, with highs reaching 74 degrees yesterday in Palm Springs—5 degrees warmer than the seasonal average of 69. This warming trend will persist over the next few days, bringing sunny skies and highs ranging from 71 to 75 degrees.
Earlier today, an onshore flow caused by a northern disturbance brought breezy conditions to the San Gorgonio Pass and surrounding areas. However, these winds are expected to diminish by tomorrow, leaving the valley with light breezes. A wind advisory remains in effect north of the region, while the San Gorgonio Pass and Inland Empire face an air quality alert and a wood-burning ban through tonight.
Overnight, temperatures will hover slightly above average, with lows in the 40s for most of the valley and 50 degrees in Palm Springs. Expect similar daytime highs tomorrow, with temperatures in the low to mid-70s and a shift to drier northerly winds.
Sunday marks the start of a significant warm-up as a ridge of high pressure strengthens over the Southwest. Highs will soar to 75–79 degrees, around 10–12 degrees above normal, with abundant sunshine and dry air persisting into Monday. Cities like Palm Springs, Cathedral City, and Indio will see highs near 78 degrees, while Desert Hot Springs and La Quinta will reach the mid-to-upper 70s.
Looking ahead, no rain is expected in the region over the next seven days. Relative humidity will drop to 20% by Monday, ensuring dry and comfortable conditions as the valley rings in the New Year. Enjoy sunny skies and near-80-degree temperatures to kick off 2025!
