Manny Perez Moves to Crack Down on Party Houses in Thousand Palms

Residents in Thousand Palms have long voiced frustrations over party houses disrupting their neighborhoods. After months of public pressure and community outcry, Riverside County Supervisor Manny Perez announced immediate steps to address the issue.

Following a recent closed-door meeting with residents—where recording was prohibited—Perez outlined plans for a moratorium on short-term rentals in Thousand Palms and other affected areas. Measures include ramping up code enforcement, imposing larger fines on non-compliant property owners, and deploying sheriff’s deputies to shut down illegal gatherings in real-time.

The move mirrors actions taken by Supervisor Chuck Washington, whose efforts resolved similar issues in District 3. Perez’s office also revealed a previously unpublicized 90-day operation targeting party houses, now extended for another 90 days.

Local residents expressed relief at the long-awaited response but questioned why it took so long for action. Increased enforcement is expected to provide immediate relief for neighborhoods plagued by noise and safety concerns.
