ICE PRESENCE AT DODGERS GAME SPARKS OUTRAGE
L.A. is on edge tonight after reports that ICE agents tried to access Dodger Stadium before Thursday’s game. The Dodgers say they stopped federal agents from getting into the stadium’s parking lots. Fans and community members were quick to react, with some protesters gathering near the entrances. Dozens of federal agents, some wearing tactical gear and masks, were seen stationed along the roads leading up to the stadium. But the Department of Homeland Security says this wasn’t part of any immigration crackdown. DHS claims their agents were only briefly in the area because of a vehicle malfunction. Still, the timing has fueled tension in a city already rattled by immigration raids. Critics say the Dodgers franchise hasn’t done enough to stand up for the immigrant community. Groups like California Rising are calling on the team to speak out. Meanwhile, player Kike Hernandez is showing his support, posting on Instagram that the city’s immigrant families deserve better. The Dodgers say they’ll soon announce plans to help those impacted. For now, many are watching closely to see what the team does next.
