CVUSD Board Vice President Sylvia Paz Resigns Amid Budget Deficit Concerns
The Coachella Valley Unified School District announced today that Board Vice President Sylvia Paz has officially resigned from her position. Paz, who served on the Board of Trustees for seven years, released a statement saying:
“This decision was not made lightly. There is still important work ahead, but I believe the foundation we’ve built will continue to move the district forward.”
Her resignation comes at a pivotal moment for the district, which is facing an alleged $60 million budget deficit. The financial situation has drawn increased public scrutiny and calls for transparency, including recent debate over whether the district should have undergone a state audit.
CVUSD officials say they will announce plans to fill the board vacancy at a later date.
Paz’s departure adds another layer of uncertainty as the district works to navigate financial challenges and maintain stability for students, staff, and families.
