"Summer Heat Builds: Coachella Valley Braces for Post-Holiday Heatwave"

Coachella Valley — Happy Saturday, everyone! We hope you had a fantastic July 4th and are soaking up the weekend vibes. If you're still recovering from the holiday fun, you're in luck—today's conditions remain slightly above seasonal, giving you one more chance to enjoy some relatively manageable summer weather before things really start to heat up.

But don’t get too comfortable.

A ridge of high pressure is beginning to take hold over the Southwest, and while it’s centered slightly to our east, it's set to bring big changes to the Coachella Valley. Starting Sunday, we’ll feel the impact in the form of rising temperatures and a surge in humidity, thanks to southeasterly winds pulling in monsoonal moisture.

This system will push temperatures 5 to 15 degrees above normal, with forecasted highs jumping from just under 110°F on Saturday to a scorching 115°F by Wednesday. And it won’t just be dry desert heat—muggy and sticky conditions will make it feel even more oppressive than the thermometer suggests.

So as you wrap up the weekend, take advantage of the slightly milder conditions while you can. The combination of extreme heat and rising humidity next week could pose a risk for heat-related illnesses, especially for those spending time outdoors.

Plan ahead, stay cool, and stay safe, Coachella Valley—summer is just getting started.
