Senadores promueven ley estatal que regularía la inserción de Depredadores Sexuales Violentos en California
Dos senadores estatales fueron los autores de una propuesta de ley bipartidista en la que se prohibiría al estado insertar a depredadores sexuales violentos en las comunidades sin un previo aviso.
El senador Brian Jones, republicano por Santee y el senador Ben Hueso, demócrata por San Diego, en conjunto con el asambleísta demócrata de Elk Grove, Jim Cooper, escribieron la Ley de Justicia y Cumplimiento de la Responsabilidad de los Depredadores Sexuales Violentos, luego de algunos casos de alto perfil que se presentaron cuando algunos de los hospitales estatales intentaron insertar a los Depredadores Sexuales Violentos (DSV) en el norte y este del Condado de San Diego.
“Los casos recientes de Douglas Badger y Merle Wakefield encajan perfecto en el patrón de engaño y decepción que utilizan los hospitales del Departamento de Estado”, dijo el senador Brian Jones.
“Familias a lo largo de Mt. Helix, Ranchita, Borrego Springs y Rancho Bernardo fueron sacudidas por los intentos del estado de insertar a Depredadores Sexuales Violentos en sus vecindarios, afortunadamente en estos casos un juez ha intervenido para prevenir las peligrosas y forzadas inserciones de los Depredadores Sexuales Violentos en estos vecindarios.”, añadió.
De ser aprobada, la Ley 841 del Senado instauraría estas políticas:
- Pondría un duro límite a la inserción de Depredadores Sexuales Violentos en un condado a no mas del 40% en un solo distrito de supervisión.
- Obligaría al Departamento de Hospitales Estatales a reportar públicamente cuantos Depredadores Sexuales Violentos hay en cada condado y en cada distrito de supervisión.
- Hacer de la seguridad pública el criterio más importante para considerar una potencial reinserción de un Depredador Sexual Violento.
- Requerir que el Departamento de Hospitales Estatales apruebe los procesos de reinserción antes de que se firmen contratos de arrendamiento.
- Requerir que el Departamento de Hospitales Estatales, el Departamento de Rehabilitación y Correccionales, el Departamento de Protección a Bosques e Incendios Forestales para que reporten al gobernador y a las autoridades todas las ubicaciones donde pueda estar alojado un Depredador Sexual Violento.
“Durante mucho tiempo el estado ha estado tratando de liberar o dejar en libertad condicional a violadores y depredadores sexuales violentos en vecindarios residenciales. Las autoridades de los hospitales han tratado de evadir su responsabilidad, al darle esa libertad a sus vendedores, como el caso de Liberty Health Care, que ha sido libre de seleccionar diversas ubicaciones en el norte y este del condado”, afirmó el senador Jones.
“Desafortunadamente este problema no es exclusivo de San Diego. Esta ley requerirá transparencia en el proceso de la reinserción de Depredadores Sexuales Violentos en la sociedad, forzando a los oficiales estatales a hacerse responsables de sus decisiones y a poner a la seguridad pública como prioridad”, agregó.

Palm Springs is mourning the loss of beloved entertainer James “Gypsy” Haake, who has died at 94. Haake began his entertainment career at just 19 years old as a Broadway chorus dancer.
