Aparente incendio provocado en la casa de Nathan Fletcher y Lorena Gonzalez en City Heights
Desde las primeras horas de esta mañana los cuerpos policiales y de bomberos de la ciudad se activaron para atender un incendio en la casa del presidente de la San Diego County Board of Supervisors, Nathan Fletcher y su esposa, la exlegisladora estatal Lorena Gonzalez.
El fuego fue reportado en la madrugada de este miércoles, afirmando que se trataba de una casa cerca de Euclid Avenue, al sur de University Avenue en City Heights.
La vivienda es propiedad de la familia Fletcher y Gonzalez, a quienes se les pudo ver conversando con oficiales de policía y bomberos a las afueras del domicilio.
Los vecinos fueron los encargados de dar aviso al 911 al filo de las 4:30 a.m. cuando las llamas comenzaban, comentó el Teniente Christian Sharp de la Policía de San Diego.
“La casa parecía estar incendiándose, al menos el frente”, añadió Sharp.
También informó que cuando los oficiales llegaron al lugar, corrieron a la puerta trasera y la derribaron para asegurarse que la familia tuviera una ruta de escape segura mientras los bomberos extinguían las llamas, que se encontraban principalmente al frente de la casa, con algunas llegando a causar daños en el interior también.
Las autoridades ahora están investigando el sospechoso origen del incendio, el teniente explicó que no encontraron rastros de algún material que pudiera haber iniciado el incendio por si solo, además que la hora del siniestro les resulta sospechosa, afirmando que los investigadores forenses expertos en incendios tratarán de determinar exactamente que inició el fuego.
Afortunadamente no se reportaron lesionados a causa de este incidente.
“Nos despertaron nuestros detectores de humo, el frente de la casa estaba envuelto en llamas pero pudimos salir a salvo por otra puerta”, dijo Fletcher en un comunicado.
“Nuestra familia está a salvo y eso es todo lo que importa. Estamos agradecidos por la pronta respuesta del Departamento de Bomberos y el Departamento de Policía”.
“La bandera estadounidense que estaba afuera de nuestra casa se quemó en el incendio de esta mañana. Los bomberos de San Diego salvaron nuestra casa y luego nos trajeron esta bandera nueva que ahora ondea orgullosa. Esto significa mucho para mi familia. Muchas gracias”, agregó.
