Familiares de pareja de detectives de San Diego que fallecieron en trágico accidente demandan a la ciudad
Los familiares de una detective del Departamento de Policía de San Diego, que perdió la vida el año pasado junto a su marido cuando un vehículo los chocó al circular en sentido contrario y a exceso de velocidad, han interpuesto una demanda contra la ciudad por un monto total de 10 millones de dólares.
La detective Jamie Huntley-Park de 33 años y su esposo, el detective Ryan Park de 32 años, fallecieron el 4 de junio del año pasado, cuando fueron impactados por un conductor que circulaba en sentido contrario sobre la Interestatal 5 en San Ysidro.
La conductora del vehículo que circulaba en sentido contrario, Sandra Daniels, también perdió la vida en el accidente.
De acuerdo con el periódico San Diego Union-Tribune, la familia alega que la ciudad de San Diego es parcialmente responsable del accidente, en parte gracias a que la pareja viajaba a bordo de un vehículo comprado y asegurado por la propia ciudad.
“La ciudad es responsable de los letreros de avisos en las vialidades, del seguro del vehículo y de la negligencia ocurrida con el mantenimiento del vehículo”, afirma la denuncia.

La denuncia consta de dos páginas y fue realizada el mes pasado por los padres de Huntley, Ed Thomas y Cherisse Huntley, residentes de La Jolla. En la demanda, la familia busca un pago de la cobertura de un motorista sin aseguranza, bajo el amparo de que la ciudad era la encargada de asegurar el vehículo, además de alegar negligencia en el mantenimiento del mismo y las condiciones peligrosas en las que se encontraban los señalamientos.
Jamie Huntley trabajaba para la División Sur del Departamento de Policía de San Diego, mientras que su esposo Ryan Park formaba parte de la Unidad de Homicidios y se encontraban siguiendo una pista de uno de los casos asignados a Jamie cuando ocurrió el accidente, de acuerdo con el Jefe de Policía de San Diego, David Nisleit.
Ambos fueron admitidos como reclutas de policía en el mismo día hace nueve años, para luego ser ambos promovidos a detectives en el mismo día durante 2017, su historia de amor comenzaría luego de conocerse en la academia de policía, al momento de convertirse en detectives, lo hicieron ya como marido y mujer.

Palm Springs firefighters responded Thursday to a report of a person struck by lightning in the Chino Canyon area. The person was transported to a hospital for medical treatment.
