Riverside County’s COVID Hospitalizations Surpass 200
(CNS) – The number of people hospitalized with a coronavirus infection in Riverside County has surpassed 200, according to the latest state data released Tuesday. State officials hadn’t updated their hospitalization numbers since Thursday’s Thanksgiving holiday, when there were 142 COVID-positive patients in county hospitals. Tuesday’s data showed 210 such patients, with 22 being treated in intensive care, an increase from 12 ICU patients as of Thursday. The statewide total of coronavirus patients ballooned to 3,532, an increase of 242 from the previous day and 750 more than last Thursday’s total, as the expected cold-weather surge in virus transmission continues. A little over one month ago, 65 people were hospitalized throughout the county with a COVID infection, five of whom were ICU patients, according to the Riverside University Health System. County health officials said Nov. 17 that the aggregate number of COVID cases recorded since the pandemic began in March 2020 is 702,343, with 6,686 deaths. The county updates its COVID data on Thursdays but did not do so last week because of the Thanksgiving holiday. Copyright 2022, City News Service, Inc.
