PSUSD’s Community Giving Day Brings Holiday Support to Local Families

The Palm Springs Unified School District (PSUSD) is spreading holiday cheer with its annual Community Giving Day on Saturday, December 21st, from 9 to 11 AM at the PSUSD Family Engagement Center. This heartwarming event ensures local families feel supported during the holidays, providing gifts, essentials, and resources tailored to their unique needs. Jarvis Williams, Coordinator of the Family Engagement Center, emphasized the event’s mission: "Community Giving Day is about giving families a piece of the holiday spirit, letting them know they are seen and cared for." For single father Joe Gallaus and his four children, the event brought not only Christmas gifts but also invaluable emotional support. His son shared: "I felt really supported and loved. It’s amazing to see people care." Local businesses and community donors play a pivotal role in making the event possible. Irene Calderon, Community Giving Day coordinator, remarked: "This event is life-changing for families. Each year, it grows, blessing more parents and children during a challenging season." Additionally, PSUSD recently distributed 1,200 boxes of fresh produce thanks to a $150,000 grant from the LFPA Farms Together program. This collaboration with local organizations highlights the district’s commitment to ongoing community support.
