Eisenhower Health Launches CDC-Recognized Diabetes Prevention Program in Coachella Valley
With over one in 10 Americans diagnosed with diabetes, Eisenhower Health is stepping up to reduce those numbers through a new prevention program aimed at lowering risk and promoting healthier lifestyles. The 12-month Diabetes Prevention Program, recognized by the CDC, is the only initiative of its kind in the Coachella Valley. Mati Elena Sid, a diabetes care and education specialist at Eisenhower Health, is passionate about helping people manage and prevent the disease. “Everyone in my family has diabetes. It’s something I’ve made my life’s mission to help others with,” Sid shared. The program focuses on empowering participants to make sustainable lifestyle changes, from understanding portion sizes to managing blood sugar levels without invasive finger sticks. “This is all about learning how to eat to control their sugars,” Sid explained. The initiative aligns with National Diabetes Awareness Month, but its impact goes beyond November, offering long-term support to individuals at risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Eisenhower Health continues to lead the charge in diabetes care, ensuring residents of the Coachella Valley have access to expert advice and resources to live healthier lives.
