The Firebirds extend points streak to eight games with win in Tucson on Tuesday night

Luck number eight? The Firebirds scored eight straight goals and extended their points streak to eight games with a win over the Roadrunners in Tucson on Tuesday night. Down 2-0 in the first period was not too much of a task to overcome for the Firebirds. Logan Morrison, Max McCormick and Nik Brouillard led the team to a three-goal first period and never looked back. In the second period, it was Jani Nyman and Mitchell Stephens who found the back of the net to give the Firebirds a 5-2 lead after 40 minutes. The 'Birds weren't done in the final 20, Ryan Winterton added two more goals to his season and Jaggar Firkus joined in on the party. It was a four-point night for Brouillard, who scored his first with the Firebirds, as did Stephens. Ales Stezka made 27 saves on 29 shots for the win. Coachella Valley is back in Tucson on Wednesday night. Look for rookie goaltender Nikke Kokko to make the start.
