Prepare Your Home for the Holidays with Expert Tips from Groundworks

As the holiday season approaches, preparing your home to host family and friends becomes a priority. Kondwani Phiri from Groundworks recently joined Desert Living Now to offer practical advice on ensuring your home is safe and inviting for guests. Groundworks specializes in foundation repair, basement waterproofing, crawl space management, and concrete solutions. According to Kondwani, homeowners should pay close attention to key warning signs, including uneven concrete sidewalks or driveways, sloping or bouncy floors, wall cracks, crawl space mold or water damage, and musty odors. These issues, if left unaddressed, can pose safety hazards and create an unwelcoming environment. For example, uneven concrete can be a tripping hazard, especially for guests using walkers or wheelchairs. Bouncy floors might cause that Thanksgiving turkey to slide off the table, while wall cracks can detract from your home’s aesthetic appeal. Musty smells or bug infestations originating from crawl spaces could ruin the festive atmosphere. Kondwani emphasized the urgency of addressing these problems before the holidays. "Foundation and water damage are serious issues that worsen over time. Acting now not only ensures safety for your guests but can save you money in the long run," he said.
