Coachella Valley Firebirds Spread Holiday Cheer in La Quinta

The Coachella Valley Firebirds are lighting up the holiday season in more ways than one. On a mission to give back, the team, accompanied by their beloved mascot Fuego, visited Target in La Quinta to shop for families in need. They carefully selected essentials and gifts, spreading joy to the community. Head Coach Derek Laxdal expressed his pride in the team’s efforts: “Christmas is a special time, and helping families during this season reflects the heart of our organization.” Fans can look forward to the Firebirds’ next game against the San Jose Barracuda tomorrow night at Acrisure Arena. The puck drops at 7 p.m., and the game will be broadcast live on KPSE. With a spirit of giving and a commitment to excellence on and off the ice, the Coachella Valley Firebirds continue to make a difference in the community.

Palm Springs firefighters responded Thursday to a report of a person struck by lightning in the Chino Canyon area. The person was transported to a hospital for medical treatment. Firefighters also responded to a palm tree fire in Chino Canyon that officials say was caused by an apparent lightning strike. Estevan Figueroa of King’s Club Barbershop is giving back across the Coachella Valley — one haircut at a time. He and his team recently gave dozens of free haircuts to kids at the Boys and Girls Club in Cathedral City. Figueroa also provides clothing, essentials and encouragement to people in need.
