Palm Springs Animal Shelter Raises Over $79,000 at 2nd Annual Telethon for Wildlife and Pet Services

Palm Springs Animal Shelter Raises $79,260 at 2nd Annual Telethon The Palm Springs Animal Shelter celebrated its second annual telethon last night, bringing the community together to raise funds for their vital programs and the new Desert Wildlife Center in Indio. The event garnered $79,260, a significant contribution toward supporting animals across the Coachella Valley. The telethon featured live coverage from the shelter, heartwarming stories, and appearances by celebrities, including Lance Bass, who recently became a Palm Springs resident, and TV personality Scott Evans. Both shared their passion for helping animals and encouraged viewers to donate generously. “I’ve been coming to Palm Springs for 20 years, and I’m loving living here now,” Bass said. He also introduced his furry friends, Honey Crisp and Fuji, whom he rescued through Vanderpump Dogs. Where the Funds Will Go Donations from the telethon will support: Spay and neuter services: Helping control the overpopulation of pets in the valley. Low-cost vaccine clinics: Providing affordable care every Thursday by appointment. Microchipping services: Free for Palm Springs residents and only $10 for those outside the city. The shelter ensures every pet receives personalized care based on their age and lifestyle. Vaccines start as early as two months of age, with core vaccines available for both cats and dogs. Registered Veterinary Technician Martha emphasized, "We work with residents to ensure services are affordable and tailored to each pet's needs." A Community Effort The telethon featured exciting moments, including live donation updates and heartfelt stories about the shelter's impact. Notable contributions included $2,500 from Gary Johns and $300 from Rancho Mirage’s Marsha, with donations continuing to pour in throughout the night. The funds raised will make a significant difference in the shelter’s ability to provide essential services and support the local animal population.
