Third Time’s A Charm: Ralph Fiennes, Juliette Binoche Return for “The Return”
I loved talking to Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche. Both are very passionate about their craft and you can feel the love between the two friends. From “Wuthering Heights” to “The English Patient” and now in “The Return,” both actors have shown depth in their characterizations and effective chemistry whether they’re playing forlorn lovers or kings and queens in perils. From director Uberto Pasolini, “The Return” is a reimagining of Homer’s Odyssey, a grounded version if you may. No gods or deities, just the heartfelt story of a long-missing king returning to his kingdom bruised and battered by war. Fiennes is Odysseus here and Binoche is his wife Penelope. Both actors gave master class performances and will make you stay all the way to its brutal but hopeful ending. In this interview, we talked about their interests in making the film, their characters, and their dynamics. And throughout, it’s fun to see both actors act sweet towards one another, like good, old friends. Awwwwww. “The Return” is now out in select theaters. Be sure to see it!
