Warm December Days: Near-Record Highs in Coachella Valley
Warm December Days: Near-Record Highs in Coachella Valley Filling in for meteorologist Jerry Stephan, Kai Beach reported sunny skies and unseasonably warm December temperatures across the Coachella Valley. Current conditions show a pleasant 62°F with light winds at 5 mph and a humidity level of 21%. Highs today are expected to approach record-breaking levels, with mid-80s across the valley floor, high 70s near Cabazon, and low 70s in Joshua Tree. Big Bear City will remain cooler, topping out at 58°F. Winds have been a dominant story in recent days, with gusts peaking today before calming by Thursday and Friday. Tonight, high desert communities like Yucca Valley and Whitewater may experience gusts reaching up to 50 mph. By the weekend, however, wind speeds are expected to decrease, making way for calmer weather. For those venturing outdoors, today’s morning walk forecast looks ideal. Starting in the low 60s at 6 a.m., temperatures will climb to the high 70s by 10 a.m. and reach 80°F by noon. Coastal visitors can expect low 70s and surfable waves of 2 to 4 feet in Orange County and San Diego. Low temperatures tonight will dip to 29°F in Big Bear City, with Joshua Tree in the mid-40s and the valley floor ranging from the low 50s to high 40s. The Comfort Air three-day forecast predicts continued warm and dry weather through Saturday, with highs in the low to mid-80s and mild overnight lows in the low 50s. A few clouds may roll in over the weekend, but the Coachella Valley remains a sunny and inviting escape.
