Coachella Valley’s First Inpatient Mental Health Facility Opens
Coachella Valley Welcomes First Inpatient Mental Health Clinic The Coachella Valley Behavioral Health Facility, the first inpatient mental health clinic within a 70-mile radius, has officially opened in Indio. This privately owned 80-bed facility aims to address the long-standing lack of specialized care in the region. The facility offers inpatient psychiatric care for adults, addressing conditions such as anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and suicidal ideation. Patients previously had to travel over 70 miles for similar services. Director of Business Development, speaking on the facility’s mission, shared, “There was a need for it, and that’s why we came in and built this facility. We are here for the residents of the Coachella Valley.” The facility is in contact with major desert hospitals, coordinating with ER case managers to admit patients in need. While it currently focuses on adults, the hospital plans to expand services to adolescents and seniors in the future. Patients’ treatment plans vary, with an average stay lasting five to seven days. The hospital accepts all major health insurance plans and also serves surrounding communities, including Hemet and 29 Palms. This new resource brings hope to many in the Coachella Valley seeking accessible mental health care.
