Holiday Posada Brings Joy to Cathedral City Families

The Boys and Girls Club of Cathedral City brought the holiday spirit to life with their annual Holiday Posada, an event that showcased the power of community and the joy of giving. Families from across the Coachella Valley gathered to enjoy an evening filled with gifts, food, and festive cheer. From toys and bicycles to hot meals and free haircuts, the event offered something special for everyone, making it a night to remember. An Evening of Generosity When the event kicked off, the line of attendees was already wrapped around the building, reflecting the excitement and need within the community. Volunteers and organizations worked tirelessly to ensure the evening’s success. Among the highlights was a toy distribution, where children chose from a wide variety of gifts. Emily, a 6-year-old attendee, proudly showed off her new doll dressed in a doctor's outfit. “I’m so excited to see Santa tonight,” she said, her smile lighting up the room. Bikes were another crowd favorite. Scott Robinson, a representative from the Boys and Girls Club, shared a touching moment when a young girl received her very first bicycle. “Her happiness might just be my Christmas card this year,” Robinson remarked. Community Partnerships in Action The Holiday Posada’s success was made possible by the collaboration of various community groups and sponsors. The International School of Beauty provided free haircuts, bringing smiles to both kids and parents. Rob, an instructor at the school, emphasized the importance of giving back. “For families with multiple children, the cost of haircuts adds up. We’re happy to help lighten that burden during the holidays,” he said. His students, including John from Desert Barber Studio, were equally passionate. John, a local raised in the area, shared his gratitude for the opportunity to give back. “This is about helping kids feel confident and happy,” he explained. NBC Palm Springs Joins the Festivities NBC Palm Springs reporters Mark Mester, Chloe Carlson, Tim O’Brien, and Olivia were on-site to cover the event and participate in the festivities. Mark and Olivia spoke with children and volunteers, capturing heartfelt moments of joy and gratitude. Chloe and Tim highlighted the free haircuts, speaking with the barbers and stylists who generously donated their time and skills. The Spirit of the Season Scott Robinson summed up the night best: “This is what the holidays are all about—gratitude and giving back.” The event not only provided tangible gifts but also reinforced the importance of community and generosity. By teaching young leaders to give back through the club’s Leaders in Training program, the Boys and Girls Club ensures the spirit of giving continues for years to come. The Holiday Posada stands as a testament to what can be achieved when a community comes together. From the volunteers to the sponsors, and from the barbers to the NBC Palm Springs team, everyone played a role in making the evening unforgettable. As Cathedral City’s children unwrapped their gifts and shared their smiles, the true meaning of the season shone brightly.
