UnitedHealth CEO Murder Suspect Denies Terrorism Charges

Luigi Mangioni, the man accused of killing UnitedHealth CEO Brian Thompson, pleaded not guilty to murder charges in New York State Criminal Court on Monday. The 26-year-old faces an 11-count indictment, including charges of murder as an act of terrorism, which carry a maximum penalty of life in prison without parole.

Mangioni appeared in the lower Manhattan courtroom under heavy security, flanked by officers as he was escorted to his arraignment on the 13th floor. This marked his second court appearance in New York following his arrest at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania.

Prosecutors allege Mangioni stalked and fatally shot Thompson on a Manhattan street. In addition to state charges, he faces a four-count federal criminal complaint for stalking and killing the health executive.

The case has drawn significant attention due to its classification as an act of terrorism. Mangioni’s legal proceedings are being closely watched as the public awaits further developments.
