Clearer Skies and Warmer Days Ahead for the Coachella Valley

Clouds over the Coachella Valley will begin to dissipate later today, giving way to fair-weather high clouds and mild temperatures. Yesterday’s high reached 74°F, well above the seasonal norm of 69°F, and similar conditions are expected today, with highs ranging from 71–75°F across the region.

Currently, temperatures are in the mid-40s in Big Bear and the mid-60s across the valley floor, including Desert Hot Springs and 29 Palms. As the clouds thin, the area will warm into the low 70s by the afternoon. Winds remain gusty near the San Gorgonio Pass but are expected to calm overnight.

Air quality alerts persist through midnight for the west end of the valley and areas near the San Gorgonio Pass, with a wood-burning ban in effect. Overnight lows will drop into the 40s across most of the valley, while Palm Springs will remain at 50°F.

The weekend will bring mostly clear skies and a gradual warming trend. By Sunday and Monday, temperatures will rise to 75–79°F, with some areas approaching 80°F under sunny, dry conditions. Rain remains unlikely for the region as the New Year approaches, keeping the Coachella Valley comfortably warm and dry.
