Expert Tips to Combat Dry Winter Skin
Combat Winter Dryness: Skincare Tips from Dr. Patrick Davis
As temperatures drop, dry and itchy skin becomes a common challenge. Facial plastic surgeon Dr. Patrick Davis offers expert advice on maintaining healthy, glowing skin during the cooler months.
According to Dr. Davis, falling humidity levels and increased heater use deplete our skin's moisture. To combat this, he suggests incorporating barrier creams into your skincare routine. Products like Aquaphor or creams rich in hyaluronic acid and ceramides can restore and protect your skin’s natural barrier. Exfoliating dead skin cells and layering serums with barrier creams helps lock in moisture and promote a plump, hydrated look.
Diet also plays a crucial role. Foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, such as fish and avocados, support skin health from within. Additionally, Dr. Davis emphasizes the importance of staying hydrated. “Even though it’s cold outside, drinking enough water is vital for healthy skin,” he reminds us.
Avoid long, hot showers, which strip away the skin’s natural oils, and instead focus on gentle cleansing and moisturizing. By following these tips, you can keep your skin comfortable and radiant all season long.
Happy holidays from Dr. Davis, who encourages us to prioritize skin health this winter and beyond.
