Local Health Expert Offers Tips for Sticking to New Year’s Diet Resolutions and Achieving Lasting Change
Every year, millions of people set New Year’s resolutions to adopt healthier diets, but many fall short within a few weeks. Local health expert Marly Paulus, owner of Body Metrics in Palm Desert, offers practical advice on how to stay motivated and build lasting habits. “The key to lasting change is small, consistent habits that add up,” says Paulus. She emphasizes the importance of focusing on whole, clean foods and building sustainable eating habits rather than obsessing over calories or restrictive diets.
Paulus helps clients achieve their goals by combining personalized meal plans, cutting-edge medical technology, and body composition tracking. At Body Metrics, clients undergo assessments such as resting metabolic rate testing and 3D scans to create a customized roadmap for fat loss and overall fitness improvement.
One of Paulus’ key pieces of advice is to shop the perimeter of the grocery store for fresh vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy carbs like sweet potatoes. “Carbs are not the devil,” she explains. “You need them for energy, or you’ll end up burning muscle.” Additionally, Paulus encourages people not to stress about occasional slip-ups but instead focus on small changes that will add up over time. By making manageable adjustments to their routines, individuals can achieve lasting health and wellness improvements without feeling overwhelmed.
