Wind Advisory Ends, Cooler Weather on the Horizon for Coachella Valley

Good news for the Coachella Valley this evening: the wind advisory is set to expire at 6 p.m. tonight, marking the end of a week-long stretch of wind-related weather advisories. With the winds calming down, conditions will improve for ongoing fire containment efforts, providing some relief after a tense few days.

Today's high reached 72°F, slightly above average, following a warming trend over the last couple of days. The region has shifted from cooler, low-60s temperatures to the 70s, but this won’t last long. As a low-pressure system moves inland from Northern Baja, we’ll see winds shift to the southeast on Thursday, followed by an onshore flow as the system moves through the weekend.

Though the forecast suggests only spotty showers at best, any rain would be welcome as the region moves into the weekend. Temperatures will begin to dip into the 60s by Monday, marking the start of a cooler trend.

Chloe Carlson provided the updated forecast on NBC Palm Springs, noting that despite the calm winds, the weather will remain slightly above average for now, with the potential for a more significant cool down next week. Keep an eye on the forecast for updates as the weekend approaches.
