Desert Theatre Works in Indio is gearing up for a high-energy production of Legally Blonde, opening tomorrow, with Cydney Krone in the leading role of Elle Woods. A character known for her bubbly personality and perseverance, Elle is a role Krone has always dreamed of portraying. In an exclusive interview, Krone shared her personal connection to the character, describing how Elle’s journey of being underestimated and finding her voice mirrors her own experiences.
Krone explained that playing Elle is both a challenge and a dream come true, noting that the role requires constant movement, from singing and dancing to changing costumes. "She only leaves the stage for about 20 seconds during the whole show," Krone said, emphasizing the energy and commitment needed to bring the character to life.
The show also features intricate set designs that transform the stage, including the iconic courtroom scene and a vibrant hair salon. Krone's dedication to her craft, combined with the exciting visuals and musical numbers, promises an unforgettable performance for audiences in the Coachella Valley. Palm Springs is mourning the loss of beloved entertainer James “Gypsy” Haake, who has died at 94. Haake began his entertainment career at just 19 years old as a Broadway chorus dancer. After retiring from the stage, he returned to performing at 82, becoming the host of Carnival Cabaret at Oscars in downtown Palm Springs. A longtime friend of our station, Haake was a familiar and beloved figure in the Palm Springs entertainment community — and his contributions were recognized with a star on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars.
