College of the Desert Hosts L.A. Fire Donation Drive, Community Shows Strong Support
This morning, College of the Desert hosted a donation campaign to support those affected by the devastating fires in L.A. County. The event, held on the Palm Desert campus, encouraged community members to contribute essential supplies such as water, masks, blankets, soap, toothpaste, feminine hygiene products, baby wipes, diapers, and supplies for children. The campaign ran until around 4 p.m. today, with many locals stepping up to provide aid.
One of the event’s organizers emphasized the importance of community solidarity, saying, “Today it was them, tomorrow maybe it’s us. We live in a bowl and it is dangerous to live here as well. With the help that we give, maybe someday people will be just as generous to help us.” The donation drive exemplified the collective responsibility to help those in need, reflecting the strength of the local community.
All donated items will provide critical support to individuals and families impacted by the ongoing fires in L.A. County, helping to meet immediate needs. The successful turnout highlighted the Coachella Valley’s commitment to helping neighbors in times of crisis.
