Fitness icon and Coachella Valley resident David Lyons transcends accolades. With more than 45 years in the industry, he's a National Fitness Hall of Fame inductee. Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2006 and undeterred, David not only achieved the honor of being given a Lifetime Achievement award from Arnold Schwarzenegger, he also founded the MS Fitness Challenge charity. He then built OptimalBody, a global movement focused on his unique methods, that shatters limitations and proves that fitness is for everyone, regardless of age, ability or challenge. Fitness trainer, speaker, and author, his passion for changing lives ignites transformations.

Palm Springs firefighters responded Thursday to a report of a person struck by lightning in the Chino Canyon area. The person was transported to a hospital for medical treatment. Firefighters also responded to a palm tree fire in Chino Canyon that officials say was caused by an apparent lightning strike. Estevan Figueroa of King’s Club Barbershop is giving back across the Coachella Valley — one haircut at a time. He and his team recently gave dozens of free haircuts to kids at the Boys and Girls Club in Cathedral City. Figueroa also provides clothing, essentials and encouragement to people in need.
