Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians Launches $100K Grant Program to Support Local Restaurants and Bars
The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians has launched a new initiative to support local restaurants and bars through its Taxpayer Business Improvement Grant Fund. This program, offering up to $100,000 in total funding, is designed to help businesses on Agua Caliente land that contribute to the tribal food and beverage sales tax.
Business owners can apply for grants of up to $20,000 for seating capacity improvements and $5,000 for beautification projects, including upgrades to furnishings, lighting, facades, fixtures, and technology. The fund also includes specific grants to help businesses participate in Restaurant Week, as well as a $25,000 vandalism repair fund, offering up to $2,000 per business.
These grants are aimed at strengthening the local economy and providing the support needed for businesses to thrive in a competitive market. With applications due by February 21, interested business owners are encouraged to contact the tribe’s Tax Department at 760-699-6975 or email rtucker@aguacaliente-nsn.gov for more information.
This initiative offers significant opportunities for local restaurants and bars to enhance their businesses and build a stronger community within the Coachella Valley.

Palm Springs is mourning the loss of beloved entertainer James “Gypsy” Haake, who has died at 94. Haake began his entertainment career at just 19 years old as a Broadway chorus dancer. After retiring from the stage, he returned to performing at 82, becoming the host of Carnival Cabaret at Oscars in downtown Palm Springs. A longtime friend of our station, Haake was a familiar and beloved figure in the Palm Springs entertainment community — and his contributions were recognized with a star on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars.
